Song by Choir – “Beautiful Savior TLH 657 : Beautiful Savior Hymnary.org link

(Director: Heather Schierenbeck; Accompanist: Cathy Augustin)

Vocalists: Linsey Sydow, Brynn Schierenbeck, Emma Moen, Olivia Thurow)

1. Beautiful Savior, King of Creation, Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love Thee, Truly I’d serve Thee,
Light of my soul, my Joy, my Crown.

3. Fair is the sunshine, Fair is the moonlight, Bright the sparkling stars on high; Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels in the sky.

Recitation:
Praise the Lord from the Heavens. Praise Him in the heights above.
Praise Him all his angels. Praise Him all His heavenly hosts.

Kings of the earth and all the nations, you princes and rulers on earth, young men and women, old men and children,
let them praise the name of the Lord.

4. Beautiful Savior, Lord of the nations, Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!

Opening Hymn TLH 192 (V 1-3, 8): Awake, my Heart, with Gladness Hymnary.org link

1. Awake, my heart, with gladness,  See what today is done,
Now after gloom and sadness Comes forth the glorious Sun!
My Savior there was laid Where our bed must be made
When to the realms of light Our spirit wings its flight.

2. The Foe in triumph shouted When Christ lay in the tomb,
But, lo, he now is routed, His boast is turned to gloom.
For Christ again is free; In glorious victory
He who is strong to save Has triumphed o’er the grave.

3. This is a sight that gladdens; What peace it doth impart!
Now nothing ever saddens The joy within my heart;
No gloom shall ever shake, No foe shall ever take,
The hope which God’s own Son In love for me hath won.

8. He brings me to the portal That leads to bliss untold
Whereon this rime immortal Is found in script of gold:
“Who there My cross hath shared Finds here a crown prepared;
Who there with Me has died Shall here be glorified.”

TLH 207 v1-2: Like the Golden Sun Ascending Hymnary.org link

1. Like the golden sun ascending,  Breaking through the gloom of night,
On the earth his glory spending  So that darkness takes to flight,
Thus my Jesus from the grave  And Death’s dismal, dreadful cave
Rose triumphant Easter morning  At the early purple dawning.

2. Thanks to Thee, O Christ victorious!  Thanks to Thee, O Lord of Life!
Death hath now no power o’er us,  Thou hast conquered in the strife.
Thanks because Thou didst arise  And hast opened Paradise!
None can fully sing the glory  Of the resurrection story.

The Easter Story According To The Four Evangelists

Our Easter Creed

I believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Man, Lord of lords and Savior of our fallen world. I believe that He came to earth on a mission of salvation, lived a holy life as my Law-fulfilling Substitute, was crucified at the hands of sinful men, and endured the punishment of hell at the hands of a just God. He died and was buried.

And I believe that on the third day he rose bodily from the dead, exactly as it had been prophesied and as He had promised.  Attested to by the inspired Scriptures and by many eyewitnesses, Jesus’ resurrection verifies that He is God’s Son, that His salvation mission was complete and that He has triumphed over the last great enemy – death.

And in rising and conquering death, Christ has become the first-fruits of all who sleep in Him. Because He rose, I and all who look to Him in faith shall one day rise. Because He lives, I too shall live. For He has promised me: “I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me, even though He dies, yet shall He live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.”

Hymn TLH 200 (V 1-3,7-8): I Know that my Redeemer Lives Hymnary.org link

1. I know that my Redeemer lives; What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, He lives, who once was dead; He lives, my ever-living Head.

2. He lives triumphant from the grave, He lives eternally to save,
He lives all-glorious in the sky, He lives exalted there on high.

3. He lives to bless me with His love, He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed, He lives to help in time of need.

7. He lives and grants me daily breath; He lives, and I shall conquer death:
He lives my mansion to prepare; He Iives to bring me safely there.

8. He lives, all glory to His name! He lives, my Jesus, still the same.
Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives, “I know that my Redeemer lives!”

“Create In Me” (Page 12 in Hymnal)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,
Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
