Our Invocational Prayer

A Responsive Confession, Absolution & Colossians 3-4 Reading

P: Let us gather before the throne of God to beg for grace and mercy.

C: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; According to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin!  For I know my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. Against  You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so  that You may be justified in Your words and blameless in Your    judgment. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did  my mother conceive me. (Psalm 51:5)

P: We were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various  passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hatred by  others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kind- ness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of works  done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the  washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, Whom He  poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being   justified by His grace we may become heirs according to the hope of  eternal life. (Titus 3:3-7)

C: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but  Christ Who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by  faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

SingChief of sinners though I be, Jesus shed His blood for me, Died that I might live on high, Lives that I might never die. As the branch is to the vine, I am His, and He is mine.

P: If then we have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above,    where Christ is at the right hand of God.

C: Let us set our minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.

P: For we have died, and our lives are hidden with Christ in God.

C: When Christ Who is our life appears, then we also will appear with Him in glory.

P: Let us put to death therefore what is earthly in us: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming.

C: In these we too once walked, when we were living in them.

SingOh, the height of Jesus’ love, Higher than the heav’ns above, Deeper than the depths of sea, Lasting as eternity! Love that found me–wondrous thought! Found me when I sought Him not.

P: But now we must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander and obscene talk from our mouths.

C: Let us not lie to one another, seeing that we have put off our old selves with their practices

P: And have put on our new selves, which are being renewed in knowledge after the image of their Creator.

C: Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised & uncircumcised, barbarian, slave, free; But Christ is all and in all.

SingOnly Jesus can impart  Balm to heal the wounded heart, Peace that flows from sin forgiv’n, Joy that lifts the soul to heav’n, Faith and hope to walk with God  In the way that Enoch trod.

P: Let us put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy & beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,

C:Bearing with one another &,if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; As the Lord has forgiven us, so we also forgive.

P: And above all these, let us put on love, which binds everything  together in perfect harmony.

C: And let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, to which we were called in one body. And let us be thankful.

P: Let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in our hearts to God.

C: And whatever we do in word and deed, let us do everything in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Sing:  Chief of sinners though I be, Christ is all in all to me; All my wants to Him are know, All my sorrows are His own. He sustains the hidden life  Safe with Him from earthly strife.

The Scripture Reading – John 15: 1-17

As the fruit on a tree is completely the result of the natural life and    growth-giving power of the vine or tree itself, so the spiritual fruit produced in the lives of believers is completely the result of the power of the Gospel at work in them. As Jesus says: “He who abides in Me and I in Him, the same brings forth much fruit. For without Me you can do nothing.”

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father almighty.  From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Prayer And The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
