The Invocation & Responsive Reading Of Psalms 47 & 48 (Excerpts)

P: O, clap your hands,all people! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
C: For the Lord most high is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.

P: He will subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
C: He has chosen our inheritance for us, the excellence of Jacob whom He loves.

P:  God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
C: Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing  praises!

P:  For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding.
C:  God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.

P:  Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain, the joy of the whole earth. God is in her and is her refuge.
C: As we have heard, so we have  seen in the city of the Lord of hosts:  God will establish it forever. We have meditated on Your lovingkindness in the midst of Your temple. According to Your Name, O God, so is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness. Speak of Zion to the generations following. For this is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even unto death.

The  Scripture Reading – Acts 1: 1 – 11

The Ascension account focuses on the “Kingdom of God” – His spiritual rule in the hearts of His disciples and believers. Jesus established this “kingdom” with His saving work and resurrection, instructed His disciples regarding its nature, continues it through His Spirit following His Ascension and promises its ultimate fulfillment in His return and the heavenly glory that awaits us.

Sing:  TLH 217 : Oh, Sing with Exultation Hymnary.org link

Since Christ our Lord is living,  We nevermore shall die;
To God the glory giving,  We rise to Him on high.
Tho’ chastened we may be  And to our graves  be taken,
We unto life shall waken  And live eternally.

To Thee, O Christ, be glory,  Who camest in His Name!
The people  sing the story  Thy praises to proclaim.
We thank Thee and adore,  O Christ, our Lord and Savior;
Thy grace and boundless favor  Stand fast forevermore.

THY KINGDOM COME

Our Gifts For The Lord’s Work

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

The Consecration & Distribution Of The Sacrament

TLH 306 : Lord Jesus Christ, Thou Hast Prepared Hymnary.org link

(Since God’s Word presents the reception of this Sacrament as a most intimate expression of spiritual and confessional fellowship, we ask that only those who have publicly expressed such unity with us by confirmed membership in our congregation come forward. We invite any having questions or seeking a church home to speak with the Pastor)

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
