The Invocation And Confessional Prayer
C: Since we are gathered together to hear God’s Word and to call upon Him in prayer and praise, let us first consider our own unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word and deed. We cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Together we join the redeemed of all ages in praying: “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.”
P: Almighty God, merciful Father, in Holy Baptism You declared us to be Your children and gathered us into Your one, holy Church, in which You daily and richly forgive us our sins and grant us new life through Your Spirit. Be in our midst, enliven our faith, and graciously receive our prayer and praise; All this through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

A BIBLE BELIEVER’S CREED
I believe that in mercy God reached out to a lost and fallen world with His loving revelation of Himself and His plan of salvation through the prophets and apostles of old. I believe that all the books of Holy Scripture, although written by men, are all inspired by the Holy Spirit and that they are of Divine origin and nature. The Bible is therefore the very Word of the almighty and living God and is therefore in all parts infallible, absolute Truth – without error or contradiction. I believe that the purpose of Holy Scripture is to reveal God’s holy Law and redeeming Gospel – to show to man his sin and his great need for a Savior and to reveal His loving plan of salvation through His our Savior Jesus Christ. And I believe that God’s Word provides for the spiritual and eternal needs of all people, that it will not return empty, but will accomplish the purpose for which God sent it. I believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. In faith, I will trust my heavenly Father’s Word – loving it, rejoicing in it, giving thanks for it, defending it and proclaiming it as God gives me opportunity.TLH 290 : We Have a Sure Prophetic Word
