Opening Hymn – “The Lord Hath Helped Us Hitherto”

♫ 1 The Lord hath helped me hitherto
By His surpassing favor;
His mercies every morn were new,
His kindness did not waver.
God hitherto hath been my Guide,
Hath pleasures hitherto supplied,
And hitherto hath helped me.

2 I praise and thank Thee, Lord, my God,
For Thine abundant blessing
Which heretofore Thou hast bestowed
And I am still possessing.
Inscribe this on my memory:
The Lord hath done great things for me
And graciously hath helped me.

3 Help me henceforth, O God of grace,
Help me on each occasion,
Help me in each and every place,
Help me through Jesus’ Passion;
Help me in life and death, O God,
Help me through Jesus’ dying blood;
Help me as Thou hast helped me!

The Invocation And Confessional Prayer

The Scripture Reading – Ecclesiastes 3: 9-22

Apart from the Christian faith, not only do life’s myriad of activities become meaningless in terms of anything spiritual or eternal, but any distinction between the after-life destiny of man and animals is completely removed. With Christ, however comes purpose and hope to all we do.

The Nicene Creed (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe one holy Christian and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Hymn 754 “Entrust Your Days And Burdens”

The Sermon ………………………………………………….. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time
to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

The Distribution Of The Sacrament (Hymn 631)

Please speak with pastor if you are seeking a church home or have any questions.)

The Lord’s Prayer (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction ♫ Amen, Amen, Amen

Closing Hymn  “Lord Of Our Growing Years” (Melody: Hymn 966)

♫ 1 Lord of our growing years,  With us from infancy,
Laughter and quick-dried tears,  Freshness and energy;
Your grace surrounds us all our days
– For all Your gifts we bring our praise.

2 Lord of our strongest years,  Stretching our youthful pow’rs,
Dreamers and pioneers, When all the world seems ours;
Your grace surrounds us all our days
– For all Your gifts we bring our praise.

3 Lord of our middle years,  Giver of steadfastness,
Courage that perseveres,  When there is small success;
Your grace surrounds us all our days
– For all Your gifts we bring our praise.

4 Lord of our older years,  Steep though the road may be,
Rid us of foolish fears;  Bring us serenity;
Your grace surrounds us all our days
– For all Your gifts we bring our praise.

5 Lord of our closing years,  Always Your promise stands;
Hold us, when death appears  Safely within Your hands;
Your grace surrounds us all our days
– For all Your gifts we bring our praise.
