Talents are God-Given

The Sermon: Matthew 25: 14 – 30

The Kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling, who in his absence entrusted all his possessions to his servants. To one he gave five talents,to another two and to another one, each according to his ability. Then he left. The man with five talents put them to work and gained five more; The one with two talents gained two more. But the man with one talent dug a hole in the ground and buried his master’s talent. After the master later returned he called his servants to account: The one with five talents brought five more and the one with two brought two more. The master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servants! You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many. Enter in the joy of your Lord! But the third servant said,“Master,I knew that you were a demanding man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not planted. So I was afraid and hid your talent in the ground.”His master replied, “You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew that you should at least have deposited my money in the bank and at least I would have received it back with interest. Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more unto abundance; Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
