The Invocation And Responsive Prayer

P: “And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a helper suitable for him…… And  the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man…. Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife…… Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward…..

As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” (Genesis 2: 18,22,24; Psalm 127:3; Joshua 24:15)

C: Lord of life and love, we thank You for creating marriage and the Christian family. You created husbands and wives, parents & children to be a blessing and a joy for one another and for our society.  Our great family calling  is to influence and encourage one another to walk in the Word and ways of the Lord. Help us ever to remember that You have placed us into Christian families that we might be both blessed by and be a blessing to our loved ones.

P: “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ….. Love….just as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her….. God is love; Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in him…… Let us love not only with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth…. Love is patient, love is kind…. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (Ephesians 5:21;  1 John 3:18; 4:16; 1 Corinthians 13:4,7)

C: In all our marital and family relationships, help us to glorify You, Lord, by carrying out our callings and commitments in love. Give us hearts moved by the Gospel to ever seek the well-being of those we love. Through caring, kindness, patience, forgiveness and trust, help us follow Your holy love example in feelings, words and actions. For in love beyond measure, precious Savior, You sacrificed Yourself for Your beloved bride, Your holy Church, and her eternal salvation.

P: From the words of Joseph in Genesis 39:1. “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” to the Apostolic plea in 1 Thessalonians 4 – “For this is God’s will that you be sanctified, that you avoid sexual immorality …….For God did not call us to be impure, but to live holy lives”, may our prayer ever be –

C:  In a world filled with sinful, selfish and self-destructive hearts and behavior, and with our own sinful flesh exposing our vulnerability, Lord, we desperately need Your forgiveness, Your help and strength, Your guidance. Precious Savior, we are temples of Your Holy Spirit, redeemed and made Your own, soul and body. Help us to honor You with hearts and lives that “flee sinful lusts” and behavior and seek to honor You in all areas of our lives. Create in us clean hearts, O Lord, and renew right spirits within us – for the sake of Your redeeming love. Amen.

The Distribution Of The Holy Sacrament

(The Lord’s Supper is an expression both of faith in our Savior & of confessional unity among those who commune together as “one bread and one body”. We therefore ask only those who have publicly expressed such oneness of faith and belief with us by membership in our congregation or another CLC church to come forward. If you have questions or are seeking a church home, we invite you to speak with the pastor.)

Our Prayers To The Throne Of Grace

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
