Drama

Each year, in the winter, students at Berea express their creativity by performing in student plays. Drama is a great method for children to build their self-confidence, use their imagination, strengthen their memory, and work on communication skills. They gain all this while having a great time! It is a very fun and entertaining night for students, families, and friends!

Field Trips

Students at Berea participate in field trips throughout the year to enhance their education and have fun as a class. We are blessed with numerous opportunities in the Twin Cities metro area and beyond. Some examples of field trips we have taken in the past are:

Minnesota Science Museum
Minnesota Zoo
Minnesota History Museum
James J. Hill House
Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis
Mill City Museum
Historic Fort Snelling
Nickelodeon Universe
ValleyFair
Crystal Cave, Spring Valley, WI
Barn Bluff, Red Wing, MN
Red Wing Shoe Factory

Athletics

Interscholastic sports, including co-ed basketball for grades 4-8 and girls volleyball for grades 5-8 are available. They compete against several area grade schools each year. Each spring, a basketball tournament is held in Eau Claire, WI with other CLC grade schools from around the country. These activities allow our students to use their God-given athletic abilities and show Christian sportsmanship to glorify God.

Music

In addition to regular music classes as part of our curriculum, Berea offers students the opportunity to participate in band, with individual and group band lessons available. Music performances occur periodically, culminating in an annual spring concert where students perform various musical pieces that they have worked on throughout the year. Piano instruction is also available to our students, with an annual recital each spring.

Field Day

Each year, in May, our grade 5-8 students participate in a Field Day with several CLC grade schools in the area. This event is usually held here in Inver Grove Heights at nearby Rich Valley Park. Students have a great time participating in various running events, throwing events, basketball shooting, jumping rope, tug-of-war, and egg toss. Best of all is the Christian fellowship they enjoy with students from other schools!

Lego Robotics

Students in grades 4-8 have the opportunity to be on Berea’s Lego Robotics team, the “Nerd Herd”. Each year we participate in the FIRST Lego League Robotics competition. The team meets in the fall, when they are assigned their mission, and begins preparing for the regional competition that is held in December. The team has been competing since 2010, and they are looking forward to the years to come!

Carnival

Every other year, the parents of Berea put on a Carnival, with fun games and activities for all of the students, their families, and friends. A silent auction is also held, with proceeds going toward various school items and projects. The students have a great time!

Spring Fair

Each spring, students at Berea enrich their education by entering a project in our Spring Fair. The fair rotates between four areas: Science, Social Studies, Art, and Bible. This provides our students with an opportunity to learn about a subject that they may not have otherwise studied and express themselves through new and unique creative outlets.

Mini Class Day

Each year we have a day filled with volunteers sharing about their interests, cultural backgrounds, careers, and hobbies. Students have the opportunity to learn from these people through their first-hand accounts and hands-on activities. Some of the past mini-classes include: sewing, woodworking, music, Indian culture, American Sign Language, blind adaptations, sailing, engines, Helping Paws, etc.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
