Sunday School Children – “Praise To The Lord, The Almighty”

The Invocation & Opening Prayer

Song By Choir – “Rejoice” (Music: Hymn 793; Lyrics: L.D. Redlin)

(Arranged & Directed: Cathy Augustin)

1. Rejoice with thankful hearts and voices  Our songs of jubilee we sing.
For 50 years we’ve seen God bless us Our hymns of thankfulness we bring.

We humbly bow in the spirit  For undeserving though we be
Our Lord has showered us with goodness More vast & deeper than the sea.

2. Our Lord has priv’leged us to serve Him, He gives us all one job to fill.
Our Lord prepares us for this labor;  His Spirit fills our trembling will.
He calls us all to deliver  His message for the world to hear.
His Love in Christ the world’s Savior  Will cast out every idle fear.

3. So Lord, we pray, give us Your Spirit That we may always do Your will.
When doors open for Your Gospel May we step through,Your will fulfill.
So may Your Kingdom flourish  As many souls Your Word proclaim.
And may the hearts filled with Your Spirit  Then glorify Your holy Name.

Opening Hymn: “Consider Now What God Has Done”

(Tune: Hymn 15; Lyrics: Judith Snell)

The Invocation And Confession Of Sins

C: Heavenly Father, we come to you recognizing and confessing that in the past and present we individually and collectively have sinned against You by our thoughts, words and actions. According to Your abundant mercy in Christ Jesus, our Savior, forgive us and strengthen us in our faith and love for You and Your saving Word and Gospel.

P: In Christ we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

 The Responsive Psalm Excerpts

P: I will sing of the Lord’s great mercy forever; With my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that Your love stands firm forever. For You have kept Your covenant and established Your heritage through all generations.

C: The heavens praise Your glory, O Lord; The assembly of holy ones join in praise. O Lord almighty, who is like You, for Your mercy and faithfulness surrounds You. Blessed are those who walk in Your presence.  (Psalm 89)

Sing: (Tune: “Let All Things Now Living”; Words: J Snell)

Come forth to God’s altar, With songs, hymns and psalter,
To God our Provider, Come raise up your voice.
God shelters and feeds us; Restores now and leads us;
Eternally Christians – Raise song and rejoice!

For great is the Lord, Most worthy of praise;
Our one God eternal, the Giver of grace!
May all things now living, In joyful thanksgiving,
Praise God in the highest, Hosanna! Amen.

P: Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and loving-kindnesses, for they have been ever of old. For You have remembered us in our low estate and have redeemed us from all our enemies.

C: O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good and His mercy endures forever. (Psalm 136)

P: O my people, hear the word Your fathers have spoken to us. We will not hide them from their children but will speak them to the next generation:

C: The wondrous works of the Lord, which God commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them and they in turn would tell their children – that they would put their trust in Him and not forget His Words. (Psalm 78)

ALL: Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to Your Name be all glory, because of Your love and faithfulness. (Psalm 115:1)

Sing:  For all Your saints, O Lord, Who strove in Thee to live,
Who followed Thee, obeyed, adored,  Our grateful hymn receive.

For all Thy saints, O Lord, Who strove in Thee to die,
Who counted Thee their great Reward,  Accept our thankful cry.

For this Thy Name we bless  And humbly pray that we
May follow them in faithfulness  And live and die in Thee.

The Scripture Reading – Luke 10: 17 – 20 (True Anniversary Joy)

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn:“Tis The Year Of Jubilee” (Tune: #574: Words: L.D. Redlin)

The Sermon ………………………………………………………. Psalm 78: 4 – 7

“We will not hide what our fathers have told us from the next generation: The praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done. He established His Word in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them – even children yet to be born, and they would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds, but would keep His Word.”

1. 50 Years Of God’s Grace And Mercy In Our Fellowship

2. Building A Foundation For The Future

Hymn: “O God, Our Help In Ages Past”
(V 2-4Written By By Sainted CLC Pastor  B.J. Naumann)

1. O God, our Help in ages past,  Our Hope for years to come,
Our Shelter from the stormy blast,  And our eternal home.

2. For fifty years of grace, dear Lord,  Accept our humble praise,
For in our weaknesses and fears,  You led us through those days.

3. When we were casting all about,  To make our calling sure,
You gave Your Church strong leadership  In Word and doctrine pure.

4. How swiftly fifty years have passed,  How quickly fifty more?
We ask therefore for still more grace  To reach that heav’nly shore.

5. Our God, our Help in ages past,  Our Hope for years to come,
Be Thou our Guard while troubles last,  And our eternal home!

Our Gifts Of Faith And Thanksgiving

A Prayer For God’s Blessing On Our Church Body

P: Heavenly Father in Your mercy, You provided for our deepest need – by sending Your beloved Son to atone for the sins of all mankind – and bring forgiveness, righteousness and peace to a lost world:
C: “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting men’s sins against them.” (2 Corinthians 5:19)

P: In Your grace Your provided a vehicle, Your true and inspired Word, by which the Gospel and its saving power might touch and move human hearts to repentance and faith:
C: “We have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make us wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)

P: In Your wisdom You brought us together into a church which You led to treasure and honor Your Word and to seek to follow it and share it in all things:
C: “For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20)….. “Blessed  are they that hear the Word of God and keep it” (Luke 11:28).

P: With Your strength You have overcome our weakness; Against the many foes that faced our fathers and us, You have gained victory:
C: “Upon this Rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

With might of ours can naught be done; Soon were our loss effected.
But for us fights the valiant One  Whom God Himself elected.
You ask, “Who is this?”  Jesus Christ it is,  the almighty Lord.
And there’s no other God;  he holds the field forever.

P: As we face the future, Lord, we do so with a deep sense of our own spiritual inadequacies. As You were with our fathers and led and guided them by the light of Your Word, so be with us and lead into the future.
C: “Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path” (Psalm 119:105).. “In You, Lord, do I put my trust, for You are my Rock and my Fortress” (Psalm 31:1)…“My hope is in You, O Lord.” (Psalm 39:7).

P: Fill our hearts with gratitude for the grace You showered upon our fathers and through them, upon us. Help us ever to remember the faithful example of those who have before, and to imitate them in  our faith-lives.
C: “Remember your leaders, those who spoke the Word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:7-8)

P: Though you have never promised that any earthly church organization will continue forever, we rest and rejoice in Your promise that Your Word will remain forever and ever gather around it a remnant of faithful:
C: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35).….”My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow Me, and I give them eternal life. And they shall never perish, neither shall anyone  snatch them out of My hand”(John 10:27)  .

The Word they still shall let remain,  Nor any thanks have for it;
He’s by our side upon the plain  With His good gifts and Spirit.
And do what they will – Hate, steal, hurt or kill – Tho’ all may be gone,
Our victory is won;  The Kingdom’s ours forever!

The Lord’s Prayer And Benediction

The Closing Hymn: “So, Lord, Through All These Many Years”
(Lyrics: Werner Franzmann; Melody: Hymn 283)

1. So, Lord through all these  many years, Great grace to us You granted.
Your glorious Gospel filled our ears  Through fellowship here planted.
So let it ever be  That we may ever see
Your perfect boundless love  And reach Your home above
With all Your true believers.

2. Our Lord, we magnify and praise  Your faithfulness unbroken;
For You have kept through all our days  Each promise You have spoken.
Forsake us not, we pray;  Preserve us in Your way!
As You our fathers led,  So shall it here be said:
“He keeps us safe forever!”

3. God’s Word is our great heritage  And shall be ours forever;
To spread its light from age to age  Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way;  In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant while worlds endure  We keep its teachings pure
Throughout all generations.
