The Invocation, Prayer And Scripture Reading – 1 Peter 2: 9-17
As people of God called out of darkness into His marvelous light, we seek to live lives befitting children of light. This includes glorifying God both spiritually and morally as well as recognizing and honoring those whom God has placed in authority over us in life, also in our government.

Our Gifts For The Lord’s Work

Our Confession Of Sins

Lord God, heavenly Father, Your holiness stands in stark contrast to our sinfulness. We are conceived and born in sin and we sin daily in thought, word and deed. For this we deserve only Your divine condemnation and punishment. Yet, in mercy, You gave Your beloved Son into death and hell for us, that we might be redeemed and through faith stand forgiven and righteous before You. For His sake, forgive us, renew us and strengthen us to love and serve You here and forevermore. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

The Absolution And Consecration Of The Elements

The Distribution Of The Sacrament ( TLH 305 : Soul, Adorn Thyself with Gladness Hymnary.org link )
(Because God’s Word presents the reception of this Sacrament as a most intimate expression of spiritual and confessional fellowship, we ask that only those who have publicly professed such unity with us by membership at Berea or another CLC church come forward. This is not a judgment of anyone’s faith, but rather an expression of ours.)

The Lord’s Prayer And Benediction

The Closing Hymn: “Christ, By Heavenly Hosts Adored”
(Lyrics By Henry Harbough; V 3 Revised – DS)
Christ, by heav’nly hosts adored, Gracious, mighty, sov’reign Lord,
God of nations, King of kings, Head of all created things,
By the Church with joy confessed, God o’er all, forever blest –
Pleading at Your throne we stand: Save Your people, bless our land.

On our fields of grass and grain Send, O Lord, the kindly rain;
O’er our wide and goodly land Crown the labors of each hand.
Let Your kind protection be O’er our land, now bless’d and free.
Open, Lord, Your bounteous hand; Bless Your people, bless our land.

Keep us by Your mighty hand, Over evil’s fearsome band;
Let the pow’rs that You ordain Righteousness and peace maintain;
In the people’s hearts increase Love of godliness and peace;
All repent, believe, proclaim, Now revere Your saving Name. Amen.
