The Invocational Prayer

A Responsive Mission Prayer

P: By Your grace, Heavenly Father, you have granted us the privilege of seeing our Savior in Your Son, Who said, “I am the Light of the world.”
C: “He that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

P: You, O Father in Christ, have invited all people to share in the blessings of Your Kingdom, for it is written:
C: “God would have all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

P: Therefore, we pray you, fill us with a new love and zeal so that there may be more of our missionaries at home and abroad to send out Your light and Your truth, Make us all more aware of our responsibilities toward those who do not know their Savior so that we may be more willing and better able to witness for You in whatever way possible.
C: Spread, O spread Your mighty Word, Spread the Kingdom of the Lord. Whereso’er His breath has given Life for beings meant for heaven.”

P: O crucified and risen Savior, give us grace to be personal witnesses to You and Your salvation:
C: “I believed; Therefore I have spoken.”

P: O blessed Savior, as we hear You say to us: “You shall be witnesses for Me,” overcome our timidity and fear of man’s ridicule and threats, so that we may say with Your brave confessors Peter and John:
C: “We cannot but speak the things we have seen and heard!”

P: O Lord, impress upon our hearts the glory of our calling as Your witnesses. Teach and train us to serve the eternal interest of Your Kingdom not only by supporting Your work with our prayers and gifts, but also by testifying in word and deed to the hope that is in us. Not only in church – but a home, at work, at school, everywhere we go, whatever we do – may we exert a wholesome Christian influence upon all around us, so that many may by Your grace may become what Christ has made us – His dear children by faith and heirs of eternal life.
C: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.”

Sing:
Knowing Thee and Thy salvation, Grateful love dare never cease
To proclaim Thy tender mercies, Gracious Lord, Thy heavenly peace.
Sound we forth the Gospel tidings To the earth’s remotest bound,
That the sinner has been pardoned And the forgiveness can be found.

The Distribution Of Holy Communion

As our God desires that those who come to His table be able to “examine themselves”, to “discern the Lord’s body” and be united in faith and belief, we ask that only confirmed members of Berea and of other CLC congregations come forward. Any having questions or seeking a church home are invited to speak with the Pastor.

The Distribution Hymn ( WS 755 : What Is This Bread Hymnary.org link ) + Following Verses
6. How shall I live For Him Who fully does forgive
My sinful ways? Through all my days
I’ll strive to honor Him with praise – Until the end, my life amend.

7. What shall I fear Though dangers threaten and be near?
His promise sure, Makes me secure,
He guides my life from year to year. So faithfully, God is with me.

8. I, too, shall rise To join my Savior in the skies;
When trumpet blast, And life is past –
He will awaken me. Eternally with Him I’ll be.

9. What can I say To ever thank Him for His grace?
I’ll take my place Among His saints.
And join my tongue in word and song.
Oh, taste and see, Praise God with me!

The Lord’s Prayer And Benediction

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Closing Hymn – “God’s Word Is Our Great Heritage”
V 1 – F.S. Grundtvig; V 2-3 – Rev. Paul Wegner
God’s Word is our great heritage And shall be ours forever;
To spread its light from age to age Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way; In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant while worlds endure We keep its teachings pure
Throughout all generations.

It is the power of God to save All people from damnation;
The means, for all who will believe, To give life and salvation.
By showing them God’s Son, Christ, Who for all has won
God’s grace and forgiveness Through perfect holiness
Brings comfort, peace unending.

Let us then go and bring this Word To every town and nation,
And pray that our dear God and Lord May bring to them salvation,
And keep them in His way That they live faithfully
Unto their end for Him Who died and rose for them,
To Whom be glory ever.
