The Invocation And Lenten Confessional Prayer

C: Lord of Lent, Whose merciful heart was moved by man’s sin-plight, we thank You for sending Your only-begotten Son to earth and to the cross for us. Again and again in the Passion Story we see the tragic brokenness caused by sin in the hearts & lives of those who rejected You; No less are we witnesses through Your Word to the weakness of those who followed You; Most of all, we see ourselves as those whose sins led Your Son to the cross. As You forgave those who turned to you in repentance and faith, forgive us. For the sake of Jesus, have mercy on us and grant us Your peace.
The Absolution

Our Sung Response TLH 158 : Glory be to Jesus Hymnary.org link : “Glory Be To Jesus”
Glory be to Jesus, Who in bitter pains
Poured for me the lifeblood From His sacred veins!
Grace and life eternal In that blood I find;
Blest be His compassion, Infinitely kind!
Blest through endless ages Be the precious stream
Which from endless torments Did the world redeem!

The Scripture – 1 Corinthians 10: 1 – 13
(The Scriptures, church history and our own personal lives are littered with examples of people and times when faithful believers in a moment of weakness and pressure succumbed to temptation. May these serve as a powerful reminder and encouragement to us to remain close to our Savior and His Word – for daily forgiveness and strength.)

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

We Bring Our Gifts Of Faith To The Lord

Our Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
