Live in the Living Word

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

The Sermon: 2 Timothy 3:14-17

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Responsive Liturgy

P: We begin our worship service this morning in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and of God the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen

P: We have come into the presence of God this morning to study the topic of Christian Education. One of the main teachings of our Bible is the doctrine called the Law. The Law teaches us is that each one of us are poor, miserable sinners.

C: Day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. I acknowledge my sin to you, and I do not cover my iniquity. I confess my transgressions to the LORD.(Psalm 32:4,5)

P: A second main teaching of the Bible is the Gospel. In the Gospel we learn about the grace God has given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

C: According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (I Peter 1:3-5)

P: It is our single purpose to be a Christian church and school that proclaims the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible.

C: Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.(Acts 4:12)

P: This Gospel is the only way people can know the true God and the way to eternal life.

C: This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.(John 17:3)

P: We regard the Bible as the very Word of God, verbally inspired and completely without error.

C: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.(Luke 21:33)

P: Our mission is to faithfully communicate the words and message of the Bible.

C: I am determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.(I Corinthians 2:2)

P: There is no other divine source of true doctrine and instruction in the way of true salvation and in true God- pleasing living.

C: Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)

Gospel Reading…………………………………………………..Matthew 19:13-26

Jesus welcomes children and makes it clear that they, too, have a place in the Kingdom. We cannot earn eternal life through out good works; we can only receive it by God’s grace. Through faith in Christ, God freely gives us the gift of eternal life.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Create In Me” (Hymn 956)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me, Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit.

Our Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
