Lenten Sadness and Joy Time

The Sermon: John 16: 19 – 20
Jesus said, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you will see Me no more, and then after a little while you will see Me.’ I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will be turned to joy.”

(Substitute TLH 344 V 1-3: Come, Let us Join our Cheerful Songs Hymnary.org link For “Gloria In Excelsis”, Pages 7-9)

Come, let us join our cheerful songs With angels round the throne.
Ten thousand thousand are their tongues, But all their joys are one.
“Worthy the Lamb that died,” they cry, “To be exalted thus.”
“Worthy the Lamb,” our lips reply, For He was slain for us.
Jesus is worthy to receive Honor and pow’r divine;
And blessings more than we can give Be Lord, forever Thine.

The Scripture Reading – John 12: 23 – 33
The hour for Jesus to be glorified had come. For His incomparable Savior glory to be revealed, the “Seed” of the woman must enter death and be “planted” in the ground – that He might bear & give life to other mortal “seeds” who follow Him in faith. Knowing this was the very reason He had come, Jesus went forth to be “lifted up” on the cross, that He might “draw all people to Himself.”

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Gifts For The Lord’s Work

The Lord’s Prayer And Benediction

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
