The Incomparable Word

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Word will never pass away."(Matthew 24:35)

The Sermon: Isaiah 55: 10-11 [NKJV]

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

The Confession Of Sins & Absolution [WS pg 1]

Invocation

P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen

Confession and Absolution

P: Beloved of God: Let us draw near with a true heart, and confess our sins to God our Father, asking Him, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to grant us forgiveness.

C: Almighty God, our Maker and Redeemer: we confess that we are sinful by nature, and have sinned against You in our thoughts, words, and actions.  We have not loved You above all things.  We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.  Have mercy on us, and , for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, forgive us our sins.

P: God, our heavenly Father, has been merciful to us and has given His only Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by His authority, I forgive you all your sins in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen.

The Scripture Reading – Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23

We are blessed not only to have this insightful parable in God’s revelation, but also to have our Savior’s personal interpretation of it for our faith. As we share the Word with others, we can expect the varied “heart” responses to our “Seed-planting” even as we pray the ‘Spirit will create fertile ground in the hearts of those who receive it.

The Apostles Creed (Page 12 in Hymnal)

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

“Create In Me” (Page 16 in Supplement)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,
Cast me not away from Thy presence; Take not Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation; Uphold me with Your free spirit.

Our Prayer And The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
