Song by Choir – “Oh, That I Had a Thousand Voices”
TLH 30 (v 1,3,4,6): Oh, That I Had a Thousand Voices
(Director: Cathy Augustin)
Oh, that I had a thousand voices To praise my God with thousand tongues!
My heart, which in the Lord rejoices, Would then proclaim in grateful songs
To all, wherever I might be, What great things God has done for me.
Ye forest leaves so green and tender That dance for joy in summer air,
Ye meadow grasses, bright and slender, Ye flowers so wondrous sweet and fair,
Ye live to show His praise alone, With me now make His glory known.
All creatures that have breath and motion, That throng the earth, the sea, the sky,
Now join me in my heart’s devotion, Help me to raise His praises high.
My utmost powers can never alright Declare the wonders of His might.
O Father, deign Thou, I beseech Thee, To listen to my earthly lays
A nobler strain in heaven shall reach Thee, When I with angels hymn Thy praise
And learn amid their choirs to sing Loud hallelujahs to my King.
Opening Hymn TLH 165 : Behold the Lamb of God
The Invocation And Responsive Confessional Prayer
P: In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
P: Bless the Lord Who forgives all our sins;
C: His mercy endures forever.
P: Almighty God, with Whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from Whom no secrets are hidden, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by Your Holy Spirit, that we may more perfectly love You and worthily glorify Your Name. Let us therefore confess our sins:
C: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Judge of all mankind, we confess that we have sinned against You in thought, word and deed. We deserve Your anger and condemnation. Yet, we plead for Your mercy because of Your Son, upon Whom You laid the iniquity of us all and by Whose stripes we are healed. Forgive us and renew us that we may praise and serve you, to the glory of Your holy Name. Amen.
The Scripture Reading – John 12: 23-36
Like a kernel of wheat, Jesus would have to die and be buried before he could produce the ultimate fruit – eternal life and victory for all who in faith followed the Light.
The Apostles Creed (Page 12 in Hymnal)
I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn TLH 474 : Zion Stands by Hills Surrounded (Melody Hymn 54)
1. Zion stands by hills surrounded, Zion, kept by power divine;
All her foes shall be confounded Though the world in arms combine.
Happy Zion, What a favored lot is thine!
2. Every human tie may perish, Friend to friend unfaithful prove,
Mothers cease their own to cherish, Heaven and earth at last remove;
But no changes Can attend Jehovah’s love.
3. In the furnace God may prove thee, Thence to bring thee forth more bright,
But can never cease to love thee; Thou art precious in His sight.
God is with thee, God, thine everlasting Light.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Benediction ♫ Amen
