How to Handle Issues in the Church

Lamp of Our Feet Whereby We Trace

The Sermon: Acts 15 : 11-18

11No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.” 12The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13When they finished, James spoke up: “Brothers, listen to me. 14Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself. 15The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: 16” ‘After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, 17that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things’ 18that have been known for ages.

The Invocation

The Confession Of Sins

P: On the basis of the promises of our God in Jesus Christ (1 John 1:7-9) I invite all who know and feel their sins in your hearts to join with me in the confession of our sins, seeking forgiveness in the blood of our Savior.

All: O Lord God, You sit in the highest heaven. There is no thought or word or deed of ours which goes unnoticed by You. How we tremble at the thought of Your just anger and punishment for our many sins apart from Your grace and mercy in Christ Jesus. We therefore plead in His Name that You would graciously grant us forgiveness for all our sins.  Grant us the fervent working of Your Spirit within us, so that our hearts and our lips may be consecrated in holy service to Your honor and glory among men. Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us.

The Apostles Creed (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

“Create In Me” (Hymn 956)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,
Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit.

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
