Our Great, Go-To God 1

The Sermon: Psalm 73: 25-26 (NKJV)

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Listen to the sermon:

1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

The Scripture Reading – Isaiah 43 (Excerpts)

This wonderful chapter of Scripture reassures us of God’s powerful and protective hand over us, especially during those times when the rivers of life troubles threaten to overwhelm us.

The Apostles Creed (Page 12 in Hymnal)

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

“Create In Me” (Page 12 in Hymnal)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,
Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit.

The Offering

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction ♫ Amen

Closing Hymn – “Whom Have I in Heaven But You?”

(Melody Of Hymn 514 – TLH)

1. When troubles come into our lives  In this sad vale of tears,
And hearts, discouraged and distressed,  Are filled with doubts and fears.

2. When worldly help, despite its claims, Seems empty, lost and vain,
Where shall we go for what we need, For soothing balm in pain?

3. Our Lord in heaven, mighty God, Who knows and loves us well;
His Words and Promises abound – Our worries to dispel.

4. Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior dear, Who for my sin once died,
Now bear my griefs and sorrows great, For in Your love I hide.

5. Whom have I now in heav’n but You – On earth my heart’s Desire;
Through blessings, trials, life and death, Your Gospel e’er inspires.

6. In all of heav’n and all of earth, Lord, no one can compare –
Your pow’r, glory and Your grace, Our praises now declare.
