The Athanasian Creed (Condensation)

Whoever desires to be saved, it is necessary that he hold the Christian faith. Whoever does not hold it will perish eternally. And the Christian faith is this, that we worship one God in Trinity and the Trinity in unity, neither confusing the Persons nor dividing the substance. The Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God; And yet, there are not three Gods, but one God. And in this Trinity none came before or after another; None is greater or less than another, but all three Persons are co-eternal and coequal, the Triune God to be worshiped. Whoever desires to be saved must think thus about the Trinity.

But it is also necessary for everlasting salvation that one faithfully believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is at the same time both God and Man. He is God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and Man, born of His mother in time. He is perfect God and perfect Man, equal to the Father in His divinity, less than the Father in his humanity. Although he is God and Man, He is not two, but one Christ – Who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father, from whence He will come to judge the living and the dead. At His coming all people will rise again with their bodies and give account. And those who have believed will enter eternal life, and those still in their sins will enter eternal death. This is the Christian faith; Whoever does not believe it faithfully and firmly cannot be saved.
