The Epistle Reading – 1 Timothy 6: 6 – 11

Godliness is the key to one of life’s most elusive treasures –contentment. For godliness puts all things into divine perspective – assuring us both that we have   life’s most priceless treasure in our Savior and His Word and all its blessings in our lives and that too much attachment to earthly things can lead us away from God’s great eternal goal for our lives.

The  Gospel Reading – Matthew 6: 25 – 34

Even God’s children are at times are prone to undue concern over things and events in this world and life that seem at times to be such a struggle and so upsetting and fearful to our weak and weary hearts. Let our Lord reassure us again of His mighty,  loving and caring hand over all His creatures, especially His dear children. Help us seek first His Kingdom and righteousness with full faith-confidence that all our other needs will be met in love by His Fatherly hand.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

We Bring Our “Fruits” Of Faith In Thanksgiving To Our God

The Fourth Petition

Give us this day our daily bread.

What does this mean ?

God surely gives daily bread without our asking, even to all the wicked, but we pray in this petition that He would lead us to realize this and to receive our daily bread with thanksgiving.

What then is meant by daily bread ?

Daily bread includes everything that we need for our bodily welfare, such as food and drink, clothing and shoes, house and home, fields and flocks, money and goods, a godly family, good workers, good government, honest leaders, good citizens, good weather, peace and order, a good name, loyal friends and good neighbors.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
