The End is Near; Therefore Let Us 1

The Sermon: 1 Peter 4: 7-11 [NKJV]

7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

The End is Near; Therefore Let Us

  1. Love One Another
  2. Give Glory To Our Lord

Song by Children – “The People That in Darkness Sat” LSB 412 : The People That in Darkness Sat Hymnary.org link (Director: Heidi Ludvigson, Accompanist: Steve Kuehne)

1 The people that in darkness sat  A glorious light have seen;
The light has shined on them who long
In shades of death have been, In shades of death have been.

3 To us a Child of hope is born,  To us a Son is giv’n,
And on His shoulder ever rests
All pow’r in earth and heav’n, All pow’r in earth and heav’n.

4 His name shall be the Prince of Peace,  The Everlasting Lord,
The Wonderful, the Counselor.
The God by all adored, The God by all adored.

The Invocational Prayer

The Confession Of Sins And Absolution (Isaiah 59 Paraphrase)

C: Our iniquities have separated us from God. Our sins have hidden His face from us so that He will not hear. Our lips and voices have spoken wicked things. Our thoughts and deeds are evil and our feet rush into sin. Our offenses are many in Your sight and our sins testify against us. O Lord, we acknowledge our iniquities, which have displeased the Lord. No one can plead his own case for true  righteousness and integrity escape us. Have mercy on us, O Lord.

P: And the Lord saw there was no one to intervene, so His own arm worked salvation. He put on righteousness as His breastplate and the helmet of salvation on His own head and wrapped Himself in zeal as a cloak. The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins. This is My covenant with them and My Spirit will not depart from their mouths forever…. Be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.

The Scripture Reading – Isaiah 60 Excerpts

The blessed result of the proclamation of the Gospel and the Spirit’s shining forth of the “Light” is this Gospel procession of souls of all races and times marching toward the “Light” and to the Life which their Redeemer Lord has secured for them. O what joy to those who see this accurate and wonderful divine perspective as they proclaim and share the Lord’s praises.
