Pentecost Sunday

Sunday, May 15, 2016 (9:00 a.m.)

Song by Choir – “Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us
(Director: Cathy Augustin ; Accompanist: Steph Mueller)

Opening Hymn LSB 905 : Come, Thou Almighty King link “Come, Thou Almighty King”

The Invocation

Our Confession Of Sins

C: O holy God and Lord, Who justly requires holiness of those He created holy, we confess to You our unholiness. Our sins lead us to tremble before the threats and judgments of Your holy Law. Yet You do not desire the death of sinners, but that they repent and live. Have mercy on me. According to Your loving Gospel promises, forgive me for the sake of your dear Son, my Savior, Who was made sin for me that I might become the righteousness of God in Him.

The Absolution
(God’s Assurance Of Forgiveness Through His Called Servant)

The Scripture Reading – 1 Corinthians 2: 6-16

The greatest wisdom of God is His unfathomable love for lost mankind found in His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. This wisdom cannot be known by natural man or means but only when revealed to us by God’s Spirit through the Holy Scriptures. This wisdom becomes ours by faith so that we have the “mind of Christ” in all things.

The 3rd Article Of The Apostles Creed With Explanation

C: I believe that I cannot by my own thinking or choosing believe in
Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him.

But the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.

In this Christian Church He daily and fully forgives all sins to me and all believers.

On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and He will give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.

This is most certainly true.

“Create In Me” (Hymn 956)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,
Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit.

Our Offering

The Lord’s Prayer (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
