REDEEMED OF GOD – COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

REDEEMED OF GOD – COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

The Sermon: 1 John 3: 1 – 2

Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called the sons of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are the children of God; And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

REDEEMED OF GOD – COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

1. We Are The Children Of God,
2. Whose glory is Not Recognized By The World,
3. But Which Will Be Revealed When Christ Comes.

The Invocation And Confession Of Sins
Dear Lord, with your disciples of old, we too must confess that we are sometimes “foolish and slow of heart to believe all the prophets have spoken about You.” Too often we wrestle with our own thoughts and feelings, our own doubts and fears rather than trusting You and Your Words and promises. Too often we fail to apply Your Words to our lives; Too often we fail to live as Your redeemed and sanctified disciples. As you forgave and strengthened Your faithful of old, forgive and strengthen our hearts. By the power of Your sin-atoning death and life-restoring resurrection, grant us forgiveness and peace. Renew our faith and restore our resolve to live and serve You as Your victorious and ever-living children.

The Absolution (God’s Announcement Of Forgiveness)

Oh, how blest it is to know: Were as scarlet my transgression,
It shall be as white as snow By Thy blood and bitter passion;
For these words I now believe: Jesus sinners doeth receive.

Jesus sinners doeth receive. Also I have been forgiven;
And when I this earth must leave, I shall find an open heaven.
Dying, still to Him I cleave – Jesus sinners doth receive.

The Offering, Prayer And Consecration

The Distribution Of Holy Communion ( TLH 310 : Thy Table I Approach Hymnary.org link & TLH 32 : Redeemed, Restored, Forgiven Hymnary.org link )

(Because God’s Word presents the reception of this Sacrament as an intimate expression of spiritual and confessional unity, we ask that only those who have publicly professed such unity with us by membership at Berea or another CLC congregation come forward. This is not a judgment of anyone’s faith but rather an expression of ours. Any having questions or seeking a church home may speak with the pastor.)
