Our Father Who Art In Heaven The Lord's Prayer

SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Sunday, July 1, 2012 – 9:00 a.m

For Pre-Service Reading – Psalm 40, Page 132 In Front Of Hymnal

Opening Prayer

Opening Hymn – “God’s My Light” (Tune: “Come, Thou Fount”)
Lyrics By Judith Snell (2007) – Based On Psalm 27

The Invocation And Confession Of Sins

C: Merciful Father, we erred and strayed from Your ways like wandering sheep. Too often we have followed the desires of our own hearts. Too often we have failed to do Your Will. Be merciful unto us, gracious Lord. Restore the repentant, O Lord, according to Your promises declared to humanity in Christ Jesus our Savior. Empower us by Your Holy Spirit that we may live godly and righteous lives of faithful service, to the glory of Your holy Name.

God’s Absolution (Announcement Of Forgiveness Through Pastor)

P: In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
C: Amen.

P: Our help is in the Name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
C: If You, Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand But with You there is forgiveness; Therefore You are feared.

P: Since we are gathered to hear God’s Word and to call upon Him in prayer and praise, let us first consider our own unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God be merciful to me, a sinner.
C: Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Amen.

The Absolution

Sing: “To God On High Be Glory” (Melody: Hymn 217)
1. To God on high be glory And peace to all the earth;
Good-will from God in heaven Proclaimed at Jesus’ birth!
We praise and bless You, Lord; Your holy Name we sing –
Our thanks for Your great glory, Lord God, our heav’nly King.

2. To You, O sole-begotten, The Father’s Son, we pray;
O Lamb of God, our Savior, You take our sins away.
Have mercy on us, Lord; Receive our heartfelt prayer –
Where You in pow’r are seated At God’s right hand on high.

3. For You alone are holy; You only are the Lord.
Forever and forever, Be worshiped and adored;
You and the Holy Ghost Alone are Lord Most High,
In God the Father’s glory, “Amen!” our glad reply.

The Baptism Affirmation Of Jack Matthew Starland

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.
