The Invocation And Confessional Prayer

O Lamb of God for sinners slain, this holy day brings me to the foot Of the cross. There I see the horrific consequences of my sin, for which You made the ultimate sacrifice as my Substitute. In sorrow and shame I confess my own great sin and guilt; Yet in humility and faith I see You bearing my griefs and carrying my sorrows. For this I am eternally grateful. May Your redeeming, forgiving and comforting love ever shine in my heart.

Sing:

TLH 140 : Jesus, I Will Ponder Now Hymnary.org link
If my sins give me alarm And my conscience grieve me,
Let your cross my fear disarm; Peace of conscience give me.
Help me see forgiveness won By Your holy Passion.
If God’s Son so loveth me, God must have compassion.
