The Invocation

Our New Year’s Confessional Prayer

As we close out and begin another year of Your grace, heavenly Father, we are again reminded of who we are, Who You are, and what You have made us in Christ. Despite our best intentions, our sinful nature again reared its ugly head in various ways this past year. For our many sins we are truly sorry and ask Your forgiveness. For Christ’s sake we seek Your mercy. Thank you for again for patiently bearing with us – forgiving us, strengthening us and nurturing us in our faith. In Christ, You have redeemed us and made us holy – Your own dear children. Assure us of Your abiding love. Be with us in the coming year amidst our many fears, uncertainties and struggles. Strengthen us for the challenge of remaining faithful to You and Your Word. Keep us as Yours in time, that we may remain Yours for all eternity. May Your holy Sacrament of grace comfort us, bless us and inspire us throughout our earthly pilgrimage. In Jesus’ Name we come before Your throne of grace. Amen.

The Absolution

The Scripture Reading – Psalm 90 (Excerpts)

The brevity and fraility of human life in contrast with everlasting power and mercy of our God Who – “our Dwelling-Place in all generations.”

Hymn LSB 733 (V 1-2): O God, Our Help in Ages Past Hymnary.org link – “O God, Our Help In Ages Past”

1 Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home:

2 Under the shadow of Thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defense is sure.

The Apostles Creed (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Sermon….………………………… Philippians 4: 8-20 (Excerpts)

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things…… I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances, whether in need or having plenty, well-fed or hungry, I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me….. I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts which you send; They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To our God be glory forever and ever, Amen.

Please speak with pastor if you are seeking a church home or have any questions.)

The Lord’s Prayer (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction ♫ Amen, Amen, Amen
