God showeth His good will to men And peace shall reign on earth again.

Oh, thank Him for His goodness.

                        The Epistle Reading – Romans 8 : 1 – 6

The “sin-offering” death and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ has not only freed us from the condemnation of the holy and just Law of God, it has

also empowered the hearts, minds and lives of God’s children in their daily

sin-struggles Life and peace are the blessed fruit of the Spirit.

                          The Gospel Reading – Mark 8: 34 – 38

The path of discipleship is not one of ease, but one of commitment, self-denial and self-sacrifice for all who follow in the footsteps of the Savior.

Yet it is more than worth it, especially when viewed from a spiritual and eternal perspective.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead

and buried; He descended into hell;The third day He rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father

almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.I believe

in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.Amen.

Hymn 355 - “Thou Art The Way, The Truth, And The Life”

         The Sermon ………………………………………………………..  Acts 4: 1 – 12

Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple,

and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they

taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. And

they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day,for it

was already evening. However, many of those who heard the word

believed; And the number of the men came to be about 5,000.

And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders and

scribes, as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander,

and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered togeth-

er at Jerusalem. And when they has set them in their midst, they asked,

“By what power or by what name have you done this?”

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we today are judged for a good deed done to

the helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known

to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ

of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, by

Him this man stands before you whole. This is the ‘Stone which was

rejected by the builders, which has become the chief Cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is none other Name under heaven

given among men by which we must be saved.”

And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.”

                  THE  HEALING  TOUCH  OF  JESUS

               Hymn 352 - “O Savior, Precious Savior”

Our Gifts Of Faith And Love

Our Prayer To Our Good Shepherd

Lord Jesus, indeed You are the Good Shepherd of Your sheep; For You alone have rescued us from the power of the Evil One and by the precious ransom of Your divine and holy blood have purchased us for Your own. You have provided us rich pasture in Your Word and Sacrament; You alone have gathered, defended, lead and governed us. You alone have helped and healed us in so many ways; You alone can preserve us unto eternal life – and all of this alone by Your mighty and saving power.

Grant us grace, we pray, to believe with all our hearts that we are Your precious possession. May we in faith ever trust and follow You as You lead us safely and securely through the maze and mire of life in this sinful world. May we ever hear and follow Your voice by which You lead us to our heavenly home.

We confess that we often shudder when we think of our own weakness and utter helplessness, of Satan’s trickery and treachery and of the inclination of our own sinful flesh. Yet, greater are You Who live in us that all our enemies. Strengthen our faith, so that we may firmly cling to Your promise: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life; And they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.”

                     The Lord’s Prayer And Benediction

The Closing Hymn 359“Christ, Whose Glory Fills The Skies”
