FOURTH SUNDAY  AFTER EASTER

                                                      May 22,  2011  – 9:00 a.m.

The Choir:  “O Savior,Let Me Walk With Thee” (Gladden/Smith)

O Savior, let me walk with Thee in lowly paths of service free.

Tell me Thy secret, help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care.

Help me the slow of heart to move by some clear, winning word of love.

Teach me the wayward feet to stay and guide them in the homeward way.

Teach me Thy patience still with Thee in closer, dearer company.

In work that keeps faith sweet and strong, in trust that triumphs over wrong.

In hope that sends shining ray far down the future’s broadening way.

In peace that only Thou can give, O Savior, let me live.

O Savior, let me walk with Thee.

The Opening Hymn 11“Safely Through Another Week”

P: In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

          C: Amen.

P:  God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

C: If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship

with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son

          cleanses  us from all sin.

P: If we way we have no sin,we deceive  ourselves and the truth is not in us.

C: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our

sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

          P: Let us pray.

C: Almighty God, merciful Father, we are sinful by nature, and

have sinned against You in our thoughts words and actions. But

we are sorry for our transgressions and pray You, of Your boun-

tiful mercy to be gracious and merciful unto us. Forgive us for

Jesus’ sake, renew us by Your Spirit, and lead us in the way

          everlasting. Amen.

P:  Jesus Christ is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only,

but also for the sins of the whole world. We are forgiven. With boldness

and  confidence we may approach the throne to find grace to help in time

of need. In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord.

The Order Of Matins (Hymnal, Page 32)

P:  O Lord, open Thou my lips,

C: And my mouth shall forth Thy praise.

P: Make haste, O God to deliver  me.

C: Make haste to help me, O Lord.  Glory be to the Father and to

the Son and to the Holy Ghost: As it was in the beginning, is

now, and ever  shall be: world without end. Amen. Hallelujah!

                        The  Scripture Reading – Galatians 4: 1-7 ; 3: 26-29

Though natural-born slaves to sin and outside the family of God, God through

His own Son in love adopted us as His dear children by faith and made us full-

fledged members of His spiritual family – no matter what our earthly status or

standing may be. As children of our heavenly Father, we  receive wonderful

spiritual blessings in our hearts and lives and become heirs of all God promises

            us in eternity.

                                                                                        The Apostles Creed

I believe  in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And

in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy

Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was cruci-

fied, dead and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of

God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick

and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the

communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body

          and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn 459  - “Come, My Soul, Thy Suit Prepare”

          The Sermon ………………………………………………………………  Luke 11 : 2

OUR  FATHER  WHO  ART  IN  HEAVEN

Hymn:“Lord Teach Us How To Pray Aright” (James Montgomery)

               1. Lord, teach us how to pray aright,  With rev’rence and with fear.

Though dust and ashes in Your sight,  We may, we must draw near.

                       2. Give deep humility;  The sense  of godly sorrow give;

A strong desire with confidence,  To hear Your voice and live.

                         3. Faith in the only sacrifice  That can for sin atone,

To cast our hopes, to fix our eyes   On Christ and Christ alone.

       4. Give these & then Your will be done;  Thus strengthened with Your might

We, through Your Spirit and Your Son,  Shall pray and pray aright.

The Offering, Lord’s Prayer, Benediction and Children’s Message

He fulfills the prophet’s story, He is coming, He is coming.

Riding on a donkey lowly, He is coming, He is coming.

Through the gates of Jerusalem He saw His city from on high.

                                  The Palm Sunday Account – Matthew 21: 1 – 9

Opening Hymn  160  - “All Glory, Laud And Honor”

The Invocation And Our Palm Sunday Prayer

Lord, the Day of Palms is a day of triumph in Your life. As You set Your face toward death and moved to the hour of Your glory beyond the

cross, You came to us as King. Yet you came in lowly pomp that we might

know the real purpose of Your coming. You, who were rich, became poor

for out sakes so that with sins forgiven we might become spiritually rich.

Amid the shouts of “Hosanna to the Son of David” we know You as

the suffering Servant of God. Through the waving palm branches we see

You as the King of our peace. On the way paved with the garments of

man’s homage we see You as the Son of Man, Who came not to be served,

but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. Amid the changes and songs of praises of little children, we know You as the One Who came to

make us children of God. Come, King of grace, rule in us. Lord of all

mercy, have mercy on us. Savior of sinners, save us. Amen.

                                      The Reading Of Philippians 2; 5 – 8

(Holy Week takes us to both to the depth of our Savior’s humiliation with

His hell-suffering and death on Good Friday and to the height of His

exaltation with His death-defying Resurrection victory on Easter Sunday

morning. In all of this Jesus’ Name is honored and glorified by all who

         confess Him as Lord.)

the Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, He made them glowing colors,

He made their tiny wings. (Refrain)

The purple-headed mountain, the river running by, the sunset and the morning that brightens

up the sky; The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun, the ripe fruits in the

garden – He made them everyone. (Refrain)

The Opening Hymn 43 -“We Sing The Mighty Power Of God”

The Invocation & Responsive Reading Of Psalm & Creation Passages

P: Before the mountains were brought forth or ever You formed the

earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are

            God. (90:2)

C: By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry

host by the breath of His mouth (33:6).

        P:The heavens declare the glory of God;The skies show His handiwork;

C: Day after day they utter speech; Night after night they show

         wisdom (19: 1-2).

        P: There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard;

C: Their voice and words go out to the ends of the earth (19:3-4).

P: In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a

            champion rejoicing to run its course;

C: It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the

other; Nothing is hidden from its heat (19:5-6).

P: Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting

God, the Creator of the ends of the earth (Isaiah 40:28).

C: Bring everyone who is called by My Name, whom I created for

My glory, whom I formed and made (Isaiah 43:7).

P: For by Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth,

visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or auth-

orities; All things were created by Him. He is before all things and

in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1: 16-17).

C: For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities –His

eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being

understood from what has been made, so that men are without

        excuse (Romans 1:20)

                                                 Psalm 36: 5-7

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the

skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your judgments

like the great deep.  O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How price-

less is Your unfailing love! Therefore the children of men take refuge

in the shadow of Your wings.”

      mind and all my abilities.

P: You are our Creator, our Maker, to Whom we owe all things, and to

Whom we must give account. Forgive us,then,Lord, for our sometimes

waywardness, our selfishness, our coldness toward You and toward

        one another

C: What amazing wonders You work in our creation,Lord,Fearfully

and wonderfully made, we were created to serve and glorify You

with our mind, our talents, our strength and our substance.Forgive

us when our hearts have failed to do so and when our mind and

blood of our Savior and strengthen us to praise and honor you

     with our whole being.

P: The same mighty Word that created all things is the very power of

God unto salvation for everyone who believes. Through the merits of

C: We thank You, Lord, for Your bountiful goodness in all areas

of our lives. And I believe that God still preserves me by richly

and daily providing clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and

that I need to keep my body and life, and by defending me

for every blessing of soul and body. Fill our hearts with a deep sense

of our own unworthiness and an appreciative spirit of thanksgiving

      and praise.

C: All this God does only because He is my good and merciful

Father in heaven, and not because I have earned or deserved it.
