P: And lead us not into temptation.
C: God surely tempts no one to sin, but we pray in this petition that God would guard and keep us, so that the devil, the world & our flesh may not deceive us or lead us into false belief, despair and other great and shameful sins; And though we are tempted by them, we pray that we may overcome and win the victory.

P: But deliver us from evil.
C: In conclusion we pray in this petition that our Father in heaven would deliver  us from every evil that threatens body and soul, property and reputation, and finally when our last hour comes, grant us a blessed end and graciously take us from this world of sorrow to Himself in heaven.

From evil, Lord, deliver us; The times and days are perilous.
Redeem us from eternal death, And when we yield our dying breath.
Console us, grant us calm release, And take our souls to thee in peace.

The Scripture Reading – Psalm 91

We  all desire to feel safe and secure – in every area of our life. Yet there are enemies, struggles and sorrows that surround us at every life turn.  How can we handle our fears and find help and deliverance? Exactly where the psalmist found it – In the shadow and shelter of the wings of the Almighty, Who is our Refuge and Fortress. May His protecting promises ever comfort and strengthen our often weary and troubled hearts!

The Apostles Creed

I believe  in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.
