The Invocational Prayer

A Responsive Scriptural “Confessing” Prayer
P: Lord, grant to each of us as Your disciples a heart that reveres and treasures Your Word, ever seeking to faithfully follow it in all things – that we may know and possess the gift of Your saving Truth.
C: “If you continue in My Word, you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free.” (John 8: 31-32)

P: In answer to Your question, “Who do you say that I am?”, may we in faith join Peter and all believers in confessing Your Godhead, Your Messiahship and Your salvation …..
C: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!” (Matthew 16:16)

P: Showered with Gospel blessings, filled with faith and love, our hearts desire to glorify Your saving Name by speaking Your sacred and saving Word:
C: “For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and
heard.” (Acts 4:20)

P: Grant to each of us the faith and courage not to shrink from our calling in fear or selfishness, but ever “confess” You in word & life before men.
C: “Whoever confesses Me before men, him will I confess before My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32)

Sing: God’s Word is our great heritage And shall be ours forever;
To spread its Light from age to age Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way; In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant, while worlds endure, We keep its teachings pure Throughout all generations.

(Fellowship in Holy Communion is vertical with God on the basis of repentance and faith, and horizontal with man on the basis of a unity of Scriptural confession. We therefore ask that only those who are confirmed members of Berea or of another CLC church come forward. We invite any having questions or desiring to learn more of Berea to speak with the pastor.)

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
