CHRIST’S RESURRECTION ASSURES OUR RESURRECTION

The Sermon: Ephesians 4: 20 – 22

You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is corrupted by its deceitful desires; To be made new in the attitude of your minds; And to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

The Invocation And Confessional Psalm 51 (Excerpts)

P: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness, according to Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
C: Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

P: For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
C: Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

P: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.
C: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing of Your righteousness.

P: O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
C: Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offerings. Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem.

The Scripture Reading – John 15: 1-11
Just as any life in the branches and any fruit produced by it are only because it is connected to and dependent upon the vine and its life- giving roots, so any evidence of spiritual fruit in the life of a Christian is only because of His life-flowing faith-connection to our Vine, Jesus Christ.

Our Sung Response:
I thank You, Jesus,Sun from heaven,Whose radiance has bro’t light to me;
I thank You, Who has richly given All that could make me glad and free.
I thank You that my soul is healed By what Your lips revealed.

Thee will I love,my Strength,my Tower; Thee will I love,my Hope,my Joy.
Thee will I love with all my power, With ardor time shall ne’r destroy.
Thee will I love, O Light divine, So long as life is mine.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn: “O Love…….” (Melody: Hymn 370)
( A Hymn Addressed To Love, Which Personifies Jesus)

1. O Love, Who came from heav’nly heights,
True Man became, this dark world’s Light.
O Love, Who once in time was slain
For us, endured sin’s death and pain.
O Love, Who gave Himself for me,
We in the “cross” Your glory see.

2. O Love, restored Life Easter Day,
You conquered death, showed heaven’s way,
O Love, Ascend – prepare a place,
Where faithful follow – By Your grace.
O Love, Who brought me hope and life,
And freed me from all sin and strife.

3. O Love, Who dressed me up to wear,
Your righteous robes so pure and fair,
O Love, Whose image I now live,
To You my heart and life now give.
O Love, may I You love and serve,
And never from my Savior swerve.

4. O Love, Now grant me strength and pow’r
O’er enemies at each dark hour.
O Love, Who guides with tender care,
Help me my burdens ever bear.
O Love, I thank You for Your grace;
Keep me till I shall see Your face.

We Bring Our Gifts For The Lord’s Work

Our Prayer And The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
