The Invocation And Confession Of Sins
C: Merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from Your ways like wandering sheep. Too often we have followed the desires of our own hearts. Too often we have failed to do Your Will. Be merciful unto us, gracious Lord. Restore the repentant, O Lord, according to Your promises spoken to humanity in Christ Jesus our Savior. Empower us by Your Holy Spirit that we may live godly and righteous lives of faithful service,to the glory of Your holy Name.

God’s Absolution (Announcement Of Forgiveness Through Pastor)

The Responsive Reading Of Psalm 119 (Excerpts)

P: Lord, I seek You with all my heart, let me not stray from Your Word;
C: Praise be to You, O Lord; Teach me your statutes.

P: I rejoice in following Your Word, as one rejoices in great riches;
C: I meditate and delight in Your Word, and will not forget it.

P: Open my eyes to see all the wonderful things in Your Word; Though I am laid low in the dust I am renewed according to Your Word.
C: Let me understand the way of Your precepts and meditate on them. My soul is weary with sorrow; Strengthen me in Your Word.

P: I have chosen the way of Truth and set my heart upon it. May I never be put to shame.
C: My soul faints with longing for Your salvation, for I have put my hope in your Word.

P: Your Word, O Lord, is eternal; It stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations.
C: If Your Word had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forsake Your promises, for by them you have renewed my life.

P: How sweet are Your promises to my taste, sweeter than honey in my mouth!
C: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. My heart is set on keeping Your Word to the very end. Your statutes are my heritage forever; They are the joy of my heart. Accept, O Lord, the
willing praise of my mouth.

Lamp of our feet whereby we trace Our path when apt to stray;
Stream from the fount of heav’nly grace, Brook by the trav’lers way;
Word of the ever-living God, Will of His glorious Son;
Without You, how could earth be trod Or heaven itself be won?
Lord, grant us all aright to learn The wisdom it imparts,
And to its heavenly teachings turn With simple, childlike hearts.

The Scripture Reading – John 8:37ff

Though many did and still do reject the Word of Jesus, He speaks only what His Father sent Him to speak. That Word leads to eternal life for all who listen and believe.

Our Profession Of Faith (The Apostles Creed)

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Gifts Of Faith And Love

Our Prayer And The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
