(Director: Cathy Augustin ; Accompanist: Steph Mueller)
The Liturgy – Hymnal, Pages 260 – 264
The Apostles Creed (Page 264 or Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.
Why Go to Church?
I.Because Of Our Great Need And Desire For God’s Word
“He who is of God hears God’s Words” (John 8:47)
“But his delight is the Law (Word) of the Lord; And in His Law he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1:2)
II.Because Such Desire Finds Fulfillment In Public Worship
“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.” (Psalm 122:1)
“And the Christians continued daily with one accord in the Temple….. with glad and sincere hearts.” (Acts 2:46)
III. Because Worship Is Our Primary Christian Calling
“O Come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker; For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.” (Psalm 95: 6-7)
“Worship the Lord, your God, and serve Him only.” (Matthew 4:10)
IV.Because Of Its Blessings & Warnings Against Neglect
“Blessed are those who dwell in Your house.” (Psalm 84:4)
“Behold the days are coming that I will send a famine….. of hearing the Words of the Lord.” (Amos 8:11)
“And they all began to make excuses….” (Luke 14:18)
V.Because Of Its Encouragement To Others
“Let us consider how we may spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not give up coming together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as we see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)
The Lord’s Prayer (Inside Back Cover Of Hymnal)
Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Benediction ♫ Amen, Amen, Amen
