The Scripture – 1 Corinthians 10: 1 – 13
The spiritual history of Israel is indeed mixed – filled with much evidence both of man’s sinfulness and God’s judgments & mercies. In spite of divine presence, purpose and power constantly at work in their lives and history, sin and Satan continue to rear their heads at every turn. Yet God’s love and covenant promises remained sure as He contually forgave their repentant hearts, led and guided them and ulti-mately fulfilled His saving purposes through them and in them. In all of that there is a powerful warning, example and promise for us who face similar temptations and sin-struggles in our lives, as well. Indeed, God is faithful..

The Apostles Creed (Hymnal, Page 12)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hadn of God the Father almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; But God is faithful, Who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
